Trying to be better
Whoa. So I haven't posted on here since my birthday. Which was last YEAR! A lot has happened since then but I don't have enough time or energy to explain it. However, one of the things that's happened is I've fully immersed myself in the world of taking pictures. In the fall I went through two massive photojournalism classes where I got my butt kicked but also learned a whole lot about what it means to be an image maker and a visual storyteller. In order to gain more practice at those things, this semester I am interning at the local newspaper here in Syracuse, The Post-Standard. It's been a good experience so far, getting me out of my comfort zone in dealing with people and figuring out how to make the best image in a very limited amount of time. Also, it's nice get some experience with a newspaper, because who knows how much longer they'll be around.
Anyways, I'm also trying to be better at navigating through the digital mess of the internet because like it or not it is probably where my future lies, where I'll be producing things specifically for the web. So I'm going to try to start blogging every day, or as much as I can. And if I fail, then you can punch me in the face.
So to begin, here are some photos I took for The Post-Standard at the Ra Ra Riot concert in Syracuse on Saturday. It was an awesome show, as they are a band I really enjoy and look forward to future albums, and maybe even future shows, as they formed in Syracuse a few years ago as students here. So it was also a special show for those reasons, getting to see a band come back to their roots on the verge of making it big time. The opening bands were really good, too, so it was a fun show all round. Until next time, heidi-ho.
